Injured in a motor vehicle accident? We can help.
If you have been injured in a motor vehicle accident in Queensland and have an active CTP (Compulsory Third Party) insurance claim, our Tarragindi physiotherapy team can provide treatment with no out-of-pocket expense once your claim is approved. We liaise directly with your insurer and claim advisor, handling the administrative side so you can focus entirely on your recovery.
CTP insurance is compulsory for all registered vehicles in Queensland and is administered through licensed insurers. It covers the cost of treatment and rehabilitation for people injured in motor vehicle accidents, regardless of who was at fault in many circumstances. If you've been injured in a car, motorcycle, truck or other motor vehicle accident — whether as a driver, passenger, pedestrian or cyclist — you may be entitled to funded physiotherapy as part of your recovery.
Is there an out-of-pocket expense?
There is no out-of-pocket expense for our CTP insured appointments once you have approval and we are happy to liaise with your claim manager and insurer directly to save any running around from you, so you can focus simply on getting better without any of the paperwork. We'll just need a copy of your approval paperwork and claim number so we are able to invoice your insurer directly.
What paperwork do I need?
You will need an approved CTP claim number from your insurer and a current certificate of capacity from your treating GP. If your claim is still being processed, you are welcome to book and pay privately in the interim — your insurer will reimburse treatment costs once the claim is approved. Contact the Motor Accident Insurance Commission (MAIC) on 1300 302 568 or your CTP insurer directly for information about your claim status.
How many appointments can I access?
At your first appointment we will draw up a treatment plan based on your condition and injuries for submission to your insurer for approval. The number of approved appointments depends on the nature and severity of your injuries and your recovery progress. Once your initial approved sessions are approaching their limit, we will submit an updated treatment plan to your insurer outlining your progress and ongoing clinical needs. We manage this process directly with your claim manager — there is no additional administrative burden on you.

What does the physiotherapy process look like?
Your initial appointment involves a comprehensive assessment of your injuries — their nature, severity and functional impact — alongside your pre-accident health, current work demands and any restrictions in place. We establish a clear diagnosis and develop a treatment plan calibrated to your specific injuries, your CTP requirements and your recovery goals.
Treatment combines hands-on physiotherapy — manual therapy, joint mobilisation, soft tissue treatment and dry needling — with a supervised exercise program addressing the strength, mobility and functional deficits produced by your injuries. Clinical Pilates and Real time ultrasound are available as part of the rehabilitation program where appropriate.
We communicate directly with your CTP insurer, claim advisor and treating GP throughout your rehabilitation, providing the reporting and documentation required by the scheme. If your claim also includes exercise physiology, our Exercise Physiologist Ash O'Regan can provide this as a separate funded service — see our CTP exercise physiology page for more detail.
For workplace injuries managed through WorkCover Queensland rather than CTP, see our WorkCover physiotherapy page.
Our physiotherapists Mauricio Bara, Eliane Machado, Yulia Khasyanova, Bethany Kippen and Emma Cameron all have experience in CTP physiotherapy and are members of the Australian Physiotherapy Association. For further information about CTP insurance in Queensland, visit the Motor Accident Insurance Commission website or contact your CTP insurer directly.

What injuries and conditions does CTP physiotherapy cover?
CTP funded physiotherapy covers a broad range of injuries sustained in motor vehicle accidents, including:
- Whiplash associated disorders (WAD) — the most common CTP physiotherapy presentation. Neck pain, cervicogenic headache and cervical radiculopathy from the acceleration-deceleration mechanism of collision. The WAD classification — Grades 1 through 4 — guides both the management approach and the documentation requirements for CTP claims.
- Lower back pain and spinal injuries from the compressive and shear forces of impact. Disc herniation, facet joint syndrome and sacroiliac joint dysfunction are all common post-accident spinal presentations.
- Shoulder injuries — rotator cuff tears and labral injuries from bracing against impact or restraint forces.
- Knee injuries — dashboard injuries, ligament sprains and meniscal tears from direct impact or bracing mechanisms.
- Fracture rehabilitation — post-surgical physiotherapy following fracture fixation arising from accident trauma.
- Psychological injury management — where post-traumatic pain sensitisation, anxiety and fear of movement are contributing to delayed recovery, physiotherapy addresses these alongside the physical injury.
- Post-surgical rehabilitation following surgery for accident-related injuries — including spinal fusion, discectomy, rotator cuff repair and other procedures arising from the accident.
