1:1 Pilates in our Tarragindi studio
Private Pilates at Articulate gives you the full attention of your instructor, the full range of our studio equipment, and a session designed entirely around your goals — whether that's recovering from an injury, building strength and mobility, improving your technique before joining a group class, or simply getting more out of your practice than a group setting allows.
Our purpose-built Pilates studio in Tarragindi is equipped with beautifully made Australian Pilates equipment — reformers, Wunda chairs, a Cadillac, a ladder barrel and a full range of small apparatus. Every piece of equipment serves a distinct purpose, and in a private session your instructor will move you through the pieces most relevant to your goals rather than following a group program.
Who teaches private sessions
You have the option to book with a Pilates teacher or with a physiotherapist or exercise physiologist — and the right choice depends on what you're trying to achieve.
Private sessions with a Pilates teacher are ideal for people who want to learn the Pilates method, develop their technique, work on a specific movement goal, or share a session with a partner or friend. Our Pilates teachers are diploma-qualified with extensive studio experience and a thorough understanding of the equipment. Sessions are $130 per hour.
Private sessions with an exercise physiologist are appropriate for people managing an injury, a specific medical condition, post-surgical rehabilitation, or a complex presentation that requires clinical oversight alongside the exercise programming. These sessions are claimable on private health insurance under code 102 or 202 and are led by our registered clinicians. Sessions are $150 per hour.
If you are unsure which option is right for you, call us on 07 3706 3407 and we can advise based on your situation.
The equipment
Our studio's full equipment range is available in private sessions. The reformer is the foundation of the Pilates method — its spring resistance system allows precise, progressive loading in a wide range of positions and is suitable for everyone from complete beginners to advanced practitioners. The Wunda chair builds core and lower body strength through functional standing and seated movements. The Cadillac — the largest and most versatile piece of apparatus — supports postural work, flexibility, spinal rehabilitation and advanced skill development. The ladder barrel promotes spinal mobility and stretching in supported positions. The full range of small apparatus provides targeted work for specific areas of the body.
Do I need to do a private session before joining group classes?
It is entirely up to you. A private session is a useful introduction if you have never done Pilates before — it gives you the opportunity to learn the equipment, discuss anything you're concerned about with your teacher, and arrive at your first group class with confidence. However it is not a requirement — our group classes welcome beginners and instructors will guide you through each exercise.
If you have an injury, a medical condition or any physical limitation, we recommend booking an initial assessment with one of our physiotherapists before commencing any Pilates. Our clinical exercise classes — led by physiotherapists and our exercise physiologist in a small group of 4:1 — are specifically designed for people managing injuries and conditions and are claimable on private health insurance.
Can I bring someone with me?
Absolutely — private sessions can accommodate two students, making them a great option to share with a partner, parent, sibling or friend. If you are looking to do a session with three or more people, contact us directly for a discounted group rate.

Frequently asked questions about our Private pilates classes.
Should I do a private session before joining group classes?
It is entirely up to you. A private session is a great introduction to Pilates if you have never tried it before — it gives you time to learn the equipment at your own pace, ask questions, and discuss anything you want to focus on or any concerns you might have with your teacher. You will arrive at your first group class feeling confident rather than overwhelmed. That said, it is not a requirement — our group classes welcome complete beginners and your instructor will guide you through everything you need to know.
Can I bring someone with me?
Yes — private sessions can accommodate two students, making them a wonderful option to share with a partner, parent, sibling or close friend. You each work on your own goals within the session and get far more individual attention than a standard group class allows. If you are hoping to bring three or more people, contact us directly on 07 3706 3407 and we will arrange a discounted rate for your group.
What if I have an injury or physical limitation?
Anyone managing an injury, a medical condition or a physical limitation is warmly welcome at Articulate — but we recommend booking an initial assessment with one of our physiotherapists before commencing Pilates. This ensures your program is designed appropriately for your situation from the very first session. Our clinical exercise classes — led by physiotherapists and our exercise physiologist in small groups of just four — are specifically designed for people managing injuries and conditions, and are claimable on private health insurance.
