Our 8-week Prenatal Reformer Course is designed for mums-to-be and birthing persons looking to stay fit, strong and comfortable throughout pregnancy. Led by physiotherapists and exercise physiologists with specialist prenatal qualifications, our small group classes of just five ensure every participant receives the individual attention their changing body needs.
Whether you're in your first weeks of the second trimester or approaching 40 weeks, our course adapts to where you are in your pregnancy — evolving from general strength and fitness in the earlier weeks to birth preparation and postpartum recovery focus toward the end.
What makes our prenatal Pilates different
The distinction between a physiotherapist-led prenatal Pilates course and a general pregnancy exercise class matters. Our instructors are not just Pilates teachers — they are qualified physiotherapists and exercise physiologists who understand the biomechanical and neuromuscular changes of pregnancy in clinical depth. Common pregnancy conditions including pelvic girdle pain, diastasis recti, lower back pain and postural changes are understood and managed within the class rather than referred out. If you have a specific condition, we recommend booking a private physiotherapy assessment before commencing — this is complimentary as part of the course.
Our studio at Tarragindi uses reformers, wunda chairs, smaller equipment and mat-based work, giving far more variety and clinical precision than reformer-only classes.
What the 8 weeks covers
Over the course of 8 weeks, we focus on strengthening and learning to relax the pelvic floor, addressing postural discomfort during pregnancy, building abdominal strength appropriate for each stage of pregnancy, and preparing the body for labour. The stronger and more body-aware you are approaching birth, the easier your postpartum recovery is likely to be.
Who it's for
We recommend starting in the second trimester (from 12 weeks) and encourage participants to continue right up to 40+ weeks. No prior Pilates experience is needed. If you have less than 8 weeks before your due date or need more flexibility around attendance, our casual prenatal classes and general Pilates classes with pregnancy modifications are available alternatives — contact us and we'll find the right fit.
After the course — what's next
Our Mums and Bubs Postnatal Pilates course picks up from where prenatal leaves off, typically commencing at 6 to 8 weeks postpartum with GP or obstetrician clearance. Many participants move seamlessly from prenatal to postnatal, maintaining the community they've built and the physical progress they've made.
