Mauricio Bara, Founder and Principal Physiotherapist and APA Sports Physiotherapist at Articulate Physiotherapy Tarragindi Brisbane southside

Founder & Clinical Director.
Principal Physiotherapist & Exercise Physiologist.

BPhty | BExPhys | 19+ years experience | Speaks English & Spanish

Mauricio Bara.

Articulate was founded by Mauricio Bara — Exercise Physiologist and Physiotherapist — in 2019. With over 19 years of clinical experience and a genuine passion for complex cases and performance enhancement, Mauricio is the person to call when nobody else has been able to figure out what's going on. He holds a Masters of Physiotherapy (Griffith, 2011) and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Human Movement Studies (Exercise Science, Honours, 2008), and is an APA Sports Physiotherapist — a credentialled subspecialty recognised by the Australian Physiotherapy Association that reflects specialist expertise in the management of sporting and complex musculoskeletal presentations.

A lover of movement in all its forms, Mauricio runs marathons, swims, rock-climbs, practices yoga and Pilates, and loves attending classes at his local community gym. He guest lectures in the Exercise Physiology program at QUT and previously taught anatomy and biomechanics to yoga teachers at Stretch Yoga. He is renowned for his ability to explain complex problems clearly, his sense of humour, and his firm belief that with the right prescription of movement, you have the capacity to fix yourself. He'll make you work hard — but you'll thank him for it.

His special interest areas include complex musculoskeletal cases, performance enhancement for athletes, lower limb injuries, tendinopathy, women's health at a performance level (return to run and return to sport), yoga injuries and return to practice, and dance physiotherapy — including work with dancers from the Queensland Ballet, Australian National Ballet and West Australian Ballet, the Qld Firebirds, ATP tennis players, and a number of state and national ranked athletes across a variety of disciplines..

Mauricio currently treats Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

Senior Physiotherapist.
Yulia Khasyanova.
BPhty | Speaks English, Russian & French

Coming from a background in IT, Yulia completed her Bachelor of Physiotherapy in New Zealand before moving to Melbourne and then Brisbane, where she now calls home. She grew up in Russia and worked for six years in IT and telecommunications before switching careers to healthcare, inspired by her grandmother — a cardiologist. She strives to provide a holistic approach to her patients, treating not just the injured body part but seeing the whole person attached to it.

Yulia is one of a small number of physiotherapists in Brisbane with multiple specialist certifications through the Ehlers-Danlos Society, including EDS fatigue management, multidisciplinary EDS management (covering pain, co-morbidities, neurodivergence, mental health and TMJ) and ECHO program certifications. She holds certification in Headache Management in Primary Care from the Australian and New Zealand Headache Society, Advanced Dry Needling and Western Acupuncture (upper body, TMJ and cervical spine), a Biopsychosocial Reframed Chronic Pain Treatment Model certification, and most recently Visceral Manipulation — Abdomen through the Barral Institute Australia (2026).

Her special interest areas include hypermobility and EDS, headaches and migraines, dizziness and vestibular disorders, TMJ and jaw pain, chronic pain, running, and dry needling. She enjoys working with injuries from ballet, swimming, mountain biking, roller-skating and snowboarding — all of which she practices herself. She is a proud new mum to her beautiful baby boy, born in 2025. Fluent in English, Russian and French, Yulia is able to treat in all three languages.

Yulia currently treats Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Bethany Kippen, Senior Physiotherapist at Articulate Physiotherapy Tarragindi

Advanced Associate Physiotherapist.

Bethany Kippen.
BPhty

Bethany completed her Bachelor of Physiotherapy at James Cook University in Townsville in 2021. Originally from North Queensland, she relocated to Brisbane in early 2022 and has built a reputation as a thorough, evidence-based clinician with a focus on long-term outcomes rather than symptom management alone. Her approach is built around comprehensive assessment of each patient's condition, history and lifestyle — and giving patients the tools and confidence to manage their own health between appointments.

Her special interest areas include acute and chronic shoulder injuries, knee pain including ACL and meniscal pathology, thoracic pain, hip and ankle conditions, orthopaedic post-surgical rehabilitation, and pain management and ergonomics. She is also trained in dry needling and mastitis management (Australian Breastfeeding Association, 2024), and completed her Pilates Equipment Intensive Levels 1, 2 and 3 in 2024. Outside the clinic, Bethany enjoys travelling with her husband, cooking, running, and taking her greyhound Benji for walks.

Pip Wright, Senior Pilates Teacher at Articulate Physiotherapy Tarragindi
Senior Pilates teacher.
Pip Wright.
Pip's love affair with Pilates started when she was just 11 years old. As a full-time ballerina, Pilates supported her body and proved a lifesaver for injury prevention — and teaching it became a natural career progression. As a former classical dancer, Pilates has allowed her love of movement, symmetry, posture and alignment to continue long after her performing years.

Philippa has been using the Pilates method to enhance the lives of individuals for well over 20 years, working with clients aged 3 to 93 — and she is yet to meet two bodies that function exactly the same way. She remains fascinated by the human body and how it operates, constantly expanding her knowledge by adding dynamic and contemporary techniques to the classical repertoire. Extremely well respected in her field, Pip is supported by physiotherapists, physicians and surgeons, and is passionate about educating people on the benefits of Pilates as an ideal movement and physique management option. She also credits Pilates for holding her own body together after carrying three 9½ lb babies caused a severe rectus diastasis. Her greatest achievement? Keeping all three children alive.

Pip currently teaches Monday 8:30am and 9:30am, Wednesday 8:30am and 9:30am, and Thursday 1:30pm, 4:00pm, 5:00pm and 6:00pm.

Leah Harden, Senior Pilates Teacher at Articulate Physiotherapy Brisbane

Senior Pilates teacher.
Leah Harden.

Leah is a Pilates instructor with twelve years of teaching experience who came to Pilates through an unexpected path — as a Public Health Nutritionist running exercise and healthy eating programs in remote communities, where she first fell in love with the method. That community-focused, whole-person approach continues to shape how she teaches.

A mother of two young children who works full time outside the studio, Leah has recently welcomed a new fur baby, Rune, to the family. In her spare time she loves getting to the gym, performing music with a trio, baking, and listening to Audible — because, as she puts it, who actually has time to read a book?

Leah currently teaches Monday 5:30pm, 6:30pm and 7:30pm.

Alice Sevil, Pilates Teacher at Articulate Physiotherapy Tarragindi Brisbane

Pilates teacher.
Alice Sevil.

Alice's Pilates journey began at age 12 with a DVD featuring three matwork classes that she practiced on the lounge room floor with her three sisters. She fell in love with the attention to detail and refinement of movement technique that sets Pilates apart from other forms of exercise — the way it activates the right muscles, improves posture and spinal mobility without leaving you with post-class niggles. This passion led her to a Bachelor of Exercise Physiology, deepening her understanding of how the body functions and how exercise can prevent and manage chronic conditions.

She loves how modifiable and inclusive Pilates is — suitable for people of all ages, whether for injury prevention, rehabilitation or simply moving better in daily life.

Alice teaches Thursday 5:00am, 6:00am, 7:00am, 8:30am and 9:30am, Saturday 6:00am, 7:00am and 8:00am and Sunday 7:00am, 8:00am and 9:00am fortnightly.
