Frequently asked questions about our mums & bubs Pilates.
When can I start Postnatal Classes?
Postnatal classes can commence once you've been given the all clear by your doctor to return to exercise (either your obstetrician or GP, or your women's health physiotherapist if applicable). This will vary from person to person, however will usually be somewhere between 6 weeks and 12 weeks post birth. Your method of delivery, and any complications will play a role in this.
My bub is older - can I still come?
Although we love to have mums attend for as long as possible, once bubs become quite mobile (crawling or walking) unfortunately we have to ask mums to stop bringing them along. Little fingers and springs don't mix very well, and we truly have the safety of your little one in mind! As babies start to tolerate being away from mums for longer period, most mothers move to general classes or Clinical Exercise Classes while still maintaining their focus on strengthening their core and pelvic floor.
I've been told there are exercises I need to avoid/modify - is that ok?
Absolutely! We are happy to liaise with any of your health team outside of Articulate including other physiotherapists. Just ask them to write us a letter, and we're more than happy to stay in communication with them about what you're doing.
I know I'm going to miss more than one class - can I still sign up?
As we limit numbers in our sold-out classes it can be difficult to offer multiple makeups in postnatal specific classes. Unfortunately due to small class sizes we are generally only able to guarantee one make up in another postnatal intake and cannot promise specific days or times, however we will always try to accommodate in any way possible. We ask that you always try and attend in the course that you have booked into. If you are unable to make multiple weeks we recommend booking a different course.
How does the Private Health Claiming work?
Most health funds require you to have attended all 8 classes before being able to claim. At the end of the course, simply email us for your receipt with your attendance dates listed.
